This is Harvards newly developed robot bee.It is about 1.5 cm long and was built with the intelligence community in mind. The Bee is equipped with a small camera or recording device that can be used to gather information completely unnoticed. This eliminates the need for traditional information gathering techniques used by organisations such as the CIA or MI6 in foreign countries keeping actual spies out of danger. This has raised some controversy however, due to this new robots ability to go unnoticed people are worried that the governments in control of these Bees would use them to watch and listen to regular people.
While a disturbing thought it will be a while before any of this could happen. The robot is currently flawed, as it is unbalanced during flight and has a need to be connected to a external power source for any flight longer than a couple of minutes. Harvard students and scientists are currently working on a new and improved version of the Bee robot to fix all of these flaws and when they’re finished I believe that these robots could be very useful in the field of intelligence and attain information useful to national security.

Neato, Think of all the other uses too like cave exploration or exploration of other places which are dangerous for humans to go too. But the spying on regular humans would have to be deterred somehow. Also they should sell them commercially, I am sure a lot of different people want one.

I think this is an interesting robot. I’m not sure about the stealthiness of it because i think it might make noise and might be easily visible. We do notice insects that are that size. I think that with the development of technology robots can always be made smaller.

I agree with Deniz, this bug doesn’t seem to be all that small and it could prove very risky if being used in the field of intelligence because it is not entirely foolproof and still has the possibility of being detected. Although it is a far better alternative to have the bug discovered than a human spy who would have to face the consequences of their spying. I also see great possibilities for this bug once the kinks have been figured out as it is capable of replacing high risk jobs that require people to enter unsafe environments. I saw a video on this robot and it was being used to survey a building before police entered it in order to ensure that it was safe.

Very interesting and helpful for the intelligence field, but it is of bigger size and is possibly seen when sent in risky missions, therefore it is not always safe. On the other hand it can be used to record other information not in the spying field, and would still be greatly helpful. It could still be innovated more and more features can be added to it such as Wireless recording and bluetooth devices and so on.
